Sleman, August 23–24, 2025 – The Community Service Team from the Adisutjipto Institute of Aerospace Technology (ITD Adisutjipto) carried out the First Stage of Community Empowerment activities at Lembah Pelangi Ecotourism, Blimbingsari Hamlet, Sleman. This program aims to optimize the potential of nature- and culture-based tourism while strengthening the economic independence of local residents through sustainable ecotourism management. In this initial stage, residents received both soft skills and hard skills training, particularly in making tables and chairs from unused barrels, which will later be utilized to support visitor services at Café Lembah Pelangi.
The program was led by Benedictus Marwianta, S.T., M.T. as the Head of the Community Service Team, along with team members Abdul Haris S., M.Sc. and Eko Purwanto, S.T., M.Sc., assisted by three students and technical staff. The activities continued on September 14 and 19, 2025, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Teguh Wibowo, S.T., M.T., a practitioner in mechanical engineering and renewable solar energy (PLTS), who delivered material on strategies for developing community-based ecotourism as well as strengthening the institutional capacity of the local tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis).
In this second stage, the community received training in both theory and practice of solar power system installation, workshops on digital marketing through social media and online tourism platforms, and interactive discussions with academics and resource persons on strategies for developing Blimbingsari ecotourism. In addition, the team assisted in drafting the concept of Café Lembah Pelangi and handed over equipment including tables and chairs, solar panels, and a coffee beverage machine.
The program was warmly welcomed by the local community. Robert Purnomo, Head of Blimbingsari Hamlet, expressed his appreciation for the support provided, stating:
“We are greatly helped by this assistance. We hope that Lembah Pelangi will become more widely recognized as a leading ecotourism destination in Blimbingsari Hamlet.”
Through this program, ITD Adisutjipto hopes to foster synergy between academics, village government, and the community in strengthening the branding of Lembah Pelangi Ecotourism as an educational and recreational eco-friendly destination capable of improving residents’ welfare.
