ITD Adisutjipto Equips Students with Workplace Mindset and Soft Skills through Guest Lectures

Institut Teknologi Dirgantara (ITD) Adisutjipto held a guest lecture entitled "Navigating the Work Life" at the Husein Sastranegara Hall, ITD Adisutjipto Rectorate Building, on Monday (4/29/2024). The guest lecture was organized to equip students with the necessary skills for the workplace.

ITD Adisutjipto Rector, First Marshal TNI Arwin Datumaya Wahyudi Sumari, emphasized the importance of students possessing both hard skills, soft skills, and strong mental fortitude to enter the workforce. "The workforce is known to be harsh, so new graduates must face it with a strong mindset, hard skills, and soft skills. These will be acquired from industry practitioners who will give guest lectures today," he said.

According to the Rector of ITD Adisutjipto, students have been equipped with hard skills through academic learning. Meanwhile, soft skills and students' mental toughness have also been shaped by the values of aeronautics instilled at ITD Adisutjipto. The values instilled include honesty, sincerity, perseverance, and discipline. He believes that these aeronautical values ??give ITD Adisutjipto students an edge in the job market.

He stated that graduates of ITD Adisutjipto have been absorbed into various fields of work, including aerospace and general industries on both national and international scales.

"The prospects [of employment for ITD Adisutjipto graduates] are vast because we not only provide Human Resources [HR] that are prepared intellectually with hard and soft skills, but most importantly, they have leadership. Because in our college, we shape character. This character is the main key to their success in the industrial world," he said.

Furthermore, in the guest lecture, the Director of PT Duta Laserindo Metal, Tiwan Luitama, emphasized the importance of students having a strong personal branding to enter the workforce. He stated that students must be able to showcase their abilities with the appropriate personal branding. "We strategize so that our appearance [personal branding] aligns with our mission," he said.

Additionally, according to Tiwan, students also need to have the courage to take risks and responsibilities in the workforce. They are also required to be able to continuously and consistently improve their work.

The guest lecture also featured the Director of PT Yogya Presisi Tehnikatama Industri, Petrus Tedja Hapsoro, and an ITD Adisutjipto alumni, Jumani, who currently works at PT Sampoerna Surabaya.
