Along with technological developments, the Indonesian economy is also increasingly integrated and creating a digital economic and financial era. The integration of technology in economic activity certainly provides many benefits, especially in terms of accelerating the economic cycle, which is getting faster and reducing asymmetric information. However, this dynamic also presents its own challenges in implementing Bank Indonesia's mandate, especially considering the increasing number of innovations emerging in the financial sector.
Technological developments are increasingly reducing barriers (i.e. costs) in the data acquisition process so that data can be used as new goods to provide new added value. In line with Bank Indonesia's business processes, the creation of this new data also provides benefits for policy formulation, especially to support the iteration and assessment process by reducing asymmetric information. One strategy that can be realized to exploit the potential for creating new data is by creating a data-driven organization). In a data-driven organization, data is seen as a vital asset used to support assessment and acceleration of innovation. Therefore, in the context of Bank Indonesia, the role of data is very crucial for the effectiveness of policies in the monetary, macroprudential and payment system sectors.
