On Monday (1/4/2024), Rector of ITD Adisutjipto, First Marshal TNI Asst. Prof. Dr. Ir. Arwin Datumaya Wahyudi Sumari, S.T., M.T., IPU, ASEAN Eng., ACPE, APEC Eng., served as a speaker in the Refreshment Program - Executive Level Leading The AI-Driven Organization Bank, held exclusively for Executive Leaders of Bank Indonesia, located at Thamrin KOPERBI Building, Jakarta. This offline event is part of Bank Indonesia's digital transformation efforts to enhance the understanding and readiness of executives towards technological advancements, particularly the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in public policy formulation.
Attended by Bank Indonesia's top executives, including Governor of Bank Indonesia, Mr. Perry Warjiyo, Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Ms. Destry Damayanti, Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Mr. Juda Agung, and Ms. Aida Suwandi Budiman, the Chairperson of Artificial Intelligence Research and Innovation Collaboration (KORIKA) Prof. Dr. Ir. Hammam Riza, M.Sc., IPU, along with all Unit Heads of Bank Indonesia, the session highlighted the crucial challenges faced by the financial industry regarding "Mitigating Risks in the Utilization of Artificial Intelligence in Public Policy Formulation."
During the presentation, an introduction to AI risks in public policy was provided, emphasizing the various forms, characteristics, timeframes, and impacts of these risks. These risks need to be identified and assessed as the basis for developing appropriate mitigation strategies to govern AI, ensuring transparency, explainability, and trustworthiness. Case studies such as the use of chatbots, facial recognition, deepfakes, and emotion detection in the workplace presented challenges regarding the misuse of AI that must be mitigated from the outset.
The discussion session that followed allowed participants to actively inquire and discuss various aspects related to AI risk management in public policy formulation, providing an opportunity for Bank Indonesia's executives to deepen their understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with the utilization of AI technology within their institution.
