Yogyakarta, Indonesia — LLDIKTI Region V is pushing private universities to deliver real-world impact through applied research and community service. That vision came to life as Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta (Unjaya) and Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) joined forces in a Community Partnership Empowerment Program, funded by the Directorate of Research and Community Service under Indonesia’s Ministry of Science, Technology, and Higher Education.
On Saturday, July 12, 2025, the team led by Nur’Aini Purnamaningsih, S.Si., M.Sc. (Blood Bank Technology, Unjaya), alongside Suwarno, S.Kep., Ns., MNS. (Nursing, Unjaya) and Retnosyari Septiyani, S.T.P., M.Sc. (Food Service Business, UAD), delivered an anemia prevention workshop for 31 women from the Ngargosari Village PKK group in Samigaluh, Kulon Progo. Using flashcards and on-site hemoglobin checks, the program also gave Unjaya students hands-on experience in community-based learning.
Beyond education, the initiative included a symbolic handover of assets: anemia education kits, hemoglobin testing tools, and equipment for producing kelor-based functional foods—such as gas stoves, digital scales, and hand sealers. These tools will support local women in making anemia-fighting products like kelor bakpia, kelor sticks, and kelor snack bars, aimed at improving food security while strengthening household economies.
The event drew local leaders including PKK Chairwoman Ruyatni and Village Head Lobertus Kiswanto, who praised the universities for directly addressing community health needs. Backing also came from Unjaya’s LPPM Head Dr. Bdn. Tri Sunarsih and UAD’s LPPM Head Prof. Ir. Anton Yudhana, underlining the importance of cross-university collaboration in solving grassroots challenges.
LLDIKTI Region V noted that this program not only raised public health awareness but also proved how Yogyakarta’s private universities can deliver research-driven solutions to pressing issues of health and food resilience.
